Population justification: The global population is estimated to number 50,000-499,999 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019). The species is described as 'common' (Stotz et al. 1996).
Trend justification: The population trend is difficult to determine. Throughout its range, habitat loss has been negligible (< 1% over three generations; Tracewski et al. 2016), and the species is commonly observed (eBird 2020). In the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats, the species is tentatively assessed as stable.
