Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as common in central and eastern Nepal and Bhutan, locally common in north-eastern India, generally common throughout its South-East Asian range, locally common to abundant in Myanmar and uncommon to rare in China (del Hoyo et al. 2007). The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and fragmentation.
