Population justification: The global population is estimated to number fewer than 50,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019); thus it is here placed in the band 20,000-49,999 mature individuals. The species is described as 'fairly common' (Stotz et al. 1996).
Trend justification:
The population trend has not been directly quantified. A remote-sensing study found that recent forest loss in the species's range was negligible (<1% over three generations; Tracewski et al. 2016). As the species seems to tolerate moderate forest fragmentation (del Hoyo et al. 2003), it is tentatively assessed as being stable.
