Population justification: The populations of this species are crudely estimated to number more than 10,000 individuals in southern Mozambique, 1,000 in Swaziland, in excess of 7,000 in KwaZulu-Natal and 4,750 in the north-eastern Kruger National Park, South Africa. The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats.
