Taxonomic note

Hemicircus concretus and H. sordidus (del Hoyo and Collar 2014) were previously lumped as H. concretus following Sibley and Monroe (1990, 1993).

Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be uncommon (del Hoyo et al. 2002).

Trend justification: Although this species occurs in secondary forest, forest edge, gardens and plantations, the overall population is nevertheless suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction (del Hoyo et al. 2002).
