Population justification: The global population is estimated to number 2,000,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019).

Trend justification: The population is undergoing a small decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and unsustainable levels of exploitation (del Hoyo et al. 1997). A remote sensing study found that forest within its range has been lost at a rate of 6% over three generations (11.7 years; Tracewski et al. 2016). Given the additional threat posed by hunting, the species may be declining at < 10% over three generations.
