Population justification: The population of subspecies modestus is suspected to number 500,000-4,999,999 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019), and the population of subspecies elutus is suspected to number 50,000-4,999,999 mature individuals (A. Panjabi in litt. 2017). Consequently, the global population of Plain Wren may number 550,000-5,499,999 mature individuals.

Trend justification: The species is thought to be stable (Partners in Flight 2019).
