Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified. The species has been described as "locally common" (Pratt and Beehler 2015). However, it has been stated that prior to the discovery on Fergusson it was only known from 2 female specimens from Goodenough (Pratt and Beehler 2015), which would suggest that this species may not be that common. This species is considered to have a medium dependency on forest habitat, and tree cover is estimated to have declined by 0.2% within its mapped range over the past 10 years (Global Forest Watch 2022, using Hansen et al. [2013] data and methods disclosed therein). Therefore the species' population size is probably stable.
