Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be rare in New South Wales and locally moderately common in Queensland (Lambert and Woodcock 1996).
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline as a result of habitat degradation caused by agricultural expansion, loss of lowland rainforests and predation by introduced cats (del Hoyo et al. 2003).
