Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as fairly common within its very small total range (Cheke et al. 2001).
Trend justification: The population is likely to be stable given the rugged and inaccessible mountains within its range, as it is generally too steep for agriculture. Habitat degradation due to mining may affect the population in some parts of its range (Mohagan et al. 2015), although the extent to which this may cause burden needs further monitoring.
