Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as uncommon in southern Sudan, scarce in north-western Lesotho, rare in western Chad and common in Ethiopia, south Somalia, west and southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (del Hoyo et al. 2006). The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats (del Hoyo et al. 2006).
