Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as relatively common at sea level and increasingly common with elevation (del Hoyo et al. 2007), while the population in China has been estimated at c.100-100,000 breeding pairs (Brazil 2009).
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and fragmentation.
