Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be common within its tiny range (del Hoyo et al. 1994, Fuller et al. 2000). This species is declining owing to habitat loss and human encroachment. It also hybridises with F.leucoscepus (del Hoyo et al. 1994).
