Taxonomic note
Setophaga graciae (del Hoyo and Collar 2016) was previously placed in the genus Dendroica following AOU (1998 & supplements); Sibley & Monroe (1990, 1993); Stotz et al. (1996).

Population justification: The global population is estimated to number 3 million mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019).
Trend justification: The species has been undergoing a large, significant decline at an average rate of 2.9% per year between 1970 and 2017 (Partners in Flight 2019). Short-term trends from North America suggest that declines have been slowing down recently, with a rate of decline of 13% over the past ten years (Pardieck et al. 2018).
