Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be uncommon in the greater Sundas and northern Thailand. In peninsular Thailand and Malaysia the species is reported to be locally common (Lambert and Woodcock 1996).
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing logging of suitable habitat (del Hoyo et al. 2003).
