Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as abundant in cocoa plantations and forest re-growth and less common in coconut plantations (del Hoyo et al. 2007).

Trend justification: The species does occur in degraded habitats, although it may prefer primary forest (see Dallimer et al. 2012). However, the population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats (del Hoyo et al. 2007).
