Population justification: Partners in Flight (2017) places the population size at 11,000,000 mature individuals.

Trend justification: This species has undergone a small or statistically insignificant decrease over the last 40 years in North America (data from Breeding Bird Survey and Christmas Bird Count; Sauer et al. 2017, Meehan et al. 2018), but the population appears have stabilised since the mid-1980s. Therefore, the trend is considered here to be stable. Note, however, that these surveys cover less than 50% of the species's range in North America.
