Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be fairly common to common (del Hoyo et al. 1997). In 1,060 km2 of protection forest proposed as the Lolobata Wildlife Reserve on the northeast peninsula of Halmahera the population was estimated at 80,600 individuals in 1994 (Fuller undated, in Gibbs et al. 2001)
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats.
