Justification of Red List category
This species is listed as Near Threatened on the basis of estimated declines in the adult population at a protected area in Brazil. The drivers of the declines are not well understood, but on the basis of the the species' apparent rarity in other large protected areas of cerrado, a population-wide decline approaching 30% over three generations is suspected to have taken place.
