Justification of Red List category
This species is restricted to a small range in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It is suspected to have a very small population, which is suffering from ongoing habitat loss. Consequently, it is assessed as Near Threatened.

Population size: 1000-2499 mature individuals

Population trend: decreasing

Extent of occurrence (breeding/resident): 5,640 km2

Country endemic: yes
