Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as generally common (del Hoyo et al. 2007). The population is suspected to be declining owing to the destruction and degradation of riparian vegetation by cattle and feral animals (del Hoyo et al. 2007), however the rate of decline has not been quantified.
