Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as common in China, generally common in its South-East Asian range, although uncommon in Vietnam. In Chu Yang Sin, the population is estimated to be 2,640 individuals (del Hoyo et al. 2007).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction and fragmentation.
