Population justification: Partners in Flight estimate the global population to number fewer than 50,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019), thus it is here placed in the band 20,000-49,999 mature individuals. The species is described as 'uncommon' (Stotz et al. 1996).

Trend justification:

The species has undergone a small or non-significant decline between 1970 and 2014 (Partners in Flight 2019), which is thought to be caused by low levels of habitat loss within the range (Tracewski et al. 2016).
