Population justification: The global population is suspected to number fewer than 50,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2022); therefore it is here placed in the band 20,000-49,999 mature individuals. The species is described as 'uncommon' (Stotz et al. 1996).
Trend justification: The population trend has not been investigated. Tree cover loss within the range is negligible (<1% over three generations; Global Forest Watch 2021, using Hansen et al. [2013] data and methods disclosed therein). Therefore, in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats, the population is suspected to be stable.
