Taxonomic note
Synoicus chinensis and S. adansonii (del Hoyo and Collar 2014) were previously placed in the genus Coturnix and lumped as C. chinensis following Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993) and a review by the BirdLife Taxonomic Working Group, and before then were split as C. chinensis and C. adansonii following Sibley and Monroe (1990, 1993).
