Site location and context
Predominantly arable land, with a few copses.
The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
There are extensification programmes and management plans for the area.
National Partial
International High100 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Osterwesten, 100 ha). 5,000 ha of IBA covered by Landscape Protected Area (Zerbster Land, 5,000 ha). IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
