Site description (2001 baseline):

Site location and context
Area are the huge number of the islands divided by very narrow channels of Onega Lake. Located to the north from Petrozavodsk town.

Habitat and land use
Part of area (22%) is used as an 'historical-natural museum'.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
In total 68742.1 ha of IBAs protected by the local network of Protected areas (11 SPAs), most important of which descripted in Protection Status window.
