Site location and context
Yueya Hu Nature Reserve is located on the lower Song’acha He river, 50 km from Hulin City. The habitats include woodland, grassland, marshes and open water, with more than 30 lakes (average 333 ha, the largest being Yueya Hu). The surface area of the lakes fluctuates according to the water level in the Wusuli Jiang river (River Ussuri).
Non-bird biodiversity: Animals include Vulpes vulpes, Selenarctos thibetanus, Cervus elaphus, Mustela sibirica, Ondatra zibethicus and Alces alces.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1986.
