Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context

The nature reserve is divided into two sections, one located where Weihui City meets Yanjin County and the other a mudflat in Fengqiu County, with areas of 10,500 ha and 14,280 ha respectively. Both sections are wetlands on the lower Yellow River, and they are 41 km apart.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: No information.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity

Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1988, and upgraded to a national nature reserve (24,780 ha) in 1996.
