Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
The highest peak in the IBA is at 5,299 m, and the lowest point is at 2,600 m. The vegetation shows prominent vertical zonation, with subalpine coniferous forest at 2,600-3,800 m, and alpine scrub and grassland above 3,800 m.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Ailurpoda melanolenca, Pygathrix roxellanae, Panthera pardus, Cervus albirostris, Macaca mulatta, Ailurus fulgens, Felis lynx, Felis temmincki, Moschus berezovskii, Pseudois nayaur, Ovis ammon, Cervus unicolor and Naemorhedus goral.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve (24,293 ha) in 1993.
