Site location and context
Yawila is the wetest area in Sumba and the highest peak in Located in West Sumba. Topography is hilly with steep slopes.
Monsoon semi-deciduous forest below 700 m. Evergreen forest in higher altitude and covered by epiphyt (Banilodu & Saka 1993, Jepson
et.al. 1996)
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Small scale forest cutting, firewood collection and forest product collection for medicine (Jepson
et.al. 1996)
Proposed as a Nature Reserve (Anon 1995b).
