Yaoluoping Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the Dabie Shan mountains, 55 km north-west of Yuexi County. The reserve has a core area of 2,120 ha, a buffer area of 2,840 ha and an economic area of 7,340 ha. Forest cover is 90%.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: This area is the type locality of Pinus dabeshanensis. Animals include Andrias davidianus, Panthera pardus and Viverricula indica.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1991, and upgraded to a national nature reserve (12,300 ha) in 1994.
