Site description (2009 baseline)
Xijin Reservoir is located on the Yu Jiang river, and was constructed to generate hydro-power, and for transportation, irrigation and flood control. The IBA includes the reservoir and associated peninsula and islets. The shallow water areas of the reservoir have luxurient water plants. The areas adjacent to the reservoir have secondary forest, pine plantation, scrub, gardens and agricultural land.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Python molurus, Viverricula indica, Muntiacus muntjac and Prionodon pardicolor.
