Site description (2009 baseline)
Wuyi Shan is located on the boundary between Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, and is the watershed of the Gan Jiang and Min Jiang rivers. There are more than 10 mountains over 1,800 m in the reserve, with limited areas of river basin and agricultural land.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Ginkgo biloba and Bretschneidera sinensis. Nationally protected insects include Teinopalpus aureus. Animals include Felis temmincki, Neofelis nebulosa, Panthra uncial, Lutra lutra, Selenarctos thibetanus, Viverricula indica and Viverra zibetha. There were records of Panthera tigris amoyensis in the 1960s.
