Site description (2009 baseline)
Wulingyuan is located in Zhangjiajie City, and is formed by the combination of Zhangjiajie Giant Salamander National Nature Reserve and three provincial-level nature reserves. The IBA is in the transition between the western part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the eastern lowlands.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Davidia involucrata, Tsuga longibracteata, Taxus chinensis and Liriodendron chinense. Animals include Andrias davidianus, Panthera pardus, Neofelis nebulosa, Naemorhedus goral, Capricornis sumatraensis and Andrias davidianus.
