Site description (2003 baseline):

Site location and context
Located between Tujuh Belas Island and Wolo Tadho in north coastal, and include one of the driest area in Flores. Most of area is rocky and bushes.



Key biodiversity
There is Flores Green Pigeon in Ria (around 10 km west of Wolo Tadho) and Wolo Tadho. Around 14-24 birds of Yellow-crested Cockatoo recorded in Ria (Pilgrim et.al.2000).



Habitat and land use
The forest dominated by dry deciduous forest (the best and the largest in Flores Island) and some of small group of forests in savanna (Pilgrim et.al. 2000)



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Illegal logging, animal hunting and infrastructure development (Trainor & Lesmana 2000).



Protected areas
Declared as Wolo Tadho Nature Reserve and Ngedel Nalo Merah Siung Nature Reserve based on SK. No. 429/Kpts-II/1992 on 5 May 1992 covering area of 4016.8 (Anon 1998). This area includes Lembang Protected Forest (4000 ha) (Trainor & Lesmana 2000) and Riung Nature Reserve (2000 ha) (BKSDA VII 1997).
