Site description (2009 baseline):
Site location and context
Wanmulin Nature Reserve is located in Jian'ou City, in northern Fujian Province. The reserve lies in the south-eastern section of the Wuyi Shan mountains. The forest has been protected for over 640 years, and nature succession has led to the formation of subtropical broadleaf mixed forest.
Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Cinnamomum micranthum and Phoebe bournei. Animals include Python molurus, Macaca mulatta, Manis pentadactyla and Viverricula indica.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1980. However, the reserve is potentially vulnerable because of its small size and severe habitat destruction in the surrounding areas.
