Site description (2000 baseline)
The site contains a range of habitats including Pinus, Quercus and wet forest, heathland, small bogs, standing fresh water and streams. There is an airport and the area is used for military purposes.
Key biodiversity
One hundred and seventy species have been recorded with 95 species breeding regularly. This is an important site for species associated with mixed woodland, heathland and open habitats, including Caprimulgus europaeus (up to 4 breeding pairs), Dendrocopos medius (32-35 breeding pairs) and Lullula arborea (up to 46 breeding pairs).
