Site location and context
An area to the west of Badajoz with open dehesas alternating with grasslands and cereal crops.
This is an important area for steppic species and wintering
Grus grus.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The most important threat to the site is a plan to create the Alqueva reservoir in Portugal. Rain following a recent drought has caused widespread erosion. The area is generally overgrazed.
