Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A mountainous area underlain by limestone. Conifer forest occupies most of the site with a small area of mixed forest and a small area of alpine pasture on the treeline. The area is used for winter sports, forestry and hunting.



Key biodiversity
An important area for montane forest species and cliff-breeding birds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The major threat is disturbance from winter sports.



Protected areas
National Partial International None1,902 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Villacher Alpe (Dobratsch), 1,902 ha).
