Site location and context
The site includes a river and riverine forest, canals, pools, marshes, meadows, broadleaved forests and heathlands.
The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis (including
Anas platyrhynchos 25,940). Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Branta ruficollis (wintering);
Aythya nyroca (1-10 passage individuals);
Haliaeetus albicilla (wintering).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Forestry, industry, boating and recreation are the main threats to the site.

International None486 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Delta de la Sauer, 486 ha). 60 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Forêt d'Offendorf, 60 ha). 147 ha of IBA covered by Biological State Reserve (147 ha). 1,064 ha of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve (1,064 ha).
