Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An inundated flood-plain bordering the River Tisza between Tuzsér and Rakamaz. Oxbow lakes and marshes exist alongside large blocks of softwood and hardwood flood-plain forests. Human activities include grazing, mowing and arable farming.
The most important breeding site for
Riparia riparia in central Europe.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are intensified forest management and the construction of second-home developments. An integrated monitoring project is being carried out on
Riparia riparia.
