Site description (2009 baseline)
Ulugqat is a frontier area located at the western margin of China, adjacent to Kirghizstan, Uzbekistan and Tadzhikistan, 150 km west north-west of Kashi (Kaxgar) City and 1,250 km south-west of Urumqi. The IBA is on upper Kaxgar River.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Animals include Canis lupus, Vulpes vulpes, Ovis ammon and Capra ibex.
