Site location and context
Describe as steep slopes, located between 800-1500 m elevation, and almost all area is unoccupied, only some of Penan villages in isolated river valley. The way of life of the people is nomadic and practised shifting agriculture, hunting and gathering other forest product such as "gaharu", bird nest etc.This area is reported as one of virgin/pristine forest in Kalimantan (Momberg
et.al. 1998a).
Sujatnika et.al (1995) describe the following species occured in this area, Mountain Barbet
Megalaima munticola, Hose's Broadbill
Calyptomena hosii and Bornean Whistler
Pachycephala hypoxantha.
Lower mountain forest.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Illegal logging, infrastructure development and might be hunting activity.
