Site description (2003 baseline):

Site location and context
Barito Ulu Project study area covered slope forest from 120 m elevation up to more than 1000 m in Muller mountains, near sub-river of Busang and Murung that part of Barito River.The Dipterocarpacea forest is exist inside the valley.



Key biodiversity
Based on a recent study, birds occured in this site is represent Kalimantan bird species, 8 endemic species from Kalimantan can be found below 25 m, meanwhile 7 species can be found on the higher area. Some of these species shown additional information on altitude range distribution. Other species founded by Smyhies (1981) and described in Muller Mt. or G. Liang Kubung are predicted live in this area such as Dulit Frogmouth Batrachostomus harterti and Hose's Broadbill Calyptomena hosii.



Habitat and land use
Habitat type of this area are lowland evergreen forest (40%) and lower mountain forest (60%).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Forest conversion, mineral mining exploration and hunting activity.
