Têwo Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located on the northern edge of Ruoergai County. The main habitats are subalpine coniferous forest at 2,600-3,600 m and and alpine scrub and grassland above 3,600 m. There are agricultural areas on the gentle slopes below 2,700 m.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Felis lynx, Felis temmincki, Moschus berezovskii, Moschus sifanicus, Cervus albirostris, Ovis ammon, Selenarctos thibetanus and Cervus nippon.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve (20,000 ha) in 1965.
