Tumuji Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the north-eastern part of Inner Mongolia. The IBA lies within the Nen Jiang river region, and has extensive wetland habitats. It is an important breeding and staging site for birds.

Non-bird biodiversity: No information.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a nature reserve in 1996 to protect rare birds such as Otis tarda and Grus japonenis, and upgraded to a national nature reserve in 2002.
