Site summary
Tríbeč is an area of forested hills on limestone and dolomites, with occasional silica knolls. Beech forests comprise the prevalent vegetation in the central area, oak forests are dominant on silica knolls, and pine forests are present on the borders. The foothills are covered with fields, meadows, a few orchards and vineyards. Water reservoirs and urban settlements are present on the boundaries of the area. Characteristic habitats are deciduous forests and intensively used agricultural land. A significant proportion of the area is used for forestry and less for agricultural purposes. Excluding the protected forests the rest of the area is used for hunting. Only a small part is used for intensive recreational activities. The area provides suitable nesting sites for raptors (Imperial Eagle) and other forest bird species, mainly hole nesting birds. Disturbance and forestry activities in the proximity of nesting sites represent the main threats to birds. The site is proposed as an SPA.
