Site description (2000 baseline):

The Tornio river delta encompasses forested islands, rocky islets, shoreline vegetation and brackish water.

An important staging area in spring for Mergus merganser. Additionally, it is perhaps the best area for moulting wildfowl in the Lappi district.

National None International Partial444 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Pajukari-Uksei-Alkunkarinlahti).
