Site location and context
The IBA is situated in Southern Serbia, within the municipalities of Prokuplje and Kursumlija. The main landscape feature of the area is the watercourse of the Toplica river, surrounded by numerous small valleys to the north ad northwest whose watercourses flow into it. The landscape is characterized by extensive agriculture, with small parcels of diverse crops occupying 80 % of the area. The area is very heterogeneous and represents a mosaic of arable land, deciduous forest groves, meadows and orchards, especially towards the hilly areas in the northern part of the IBA.
